Chorus is a series of field paintings I began in November of 2020. It was inspired in part by work I had done in the mid 70's and by reaction to some cyber shows I did during the pandemic. I realized that not only was I expanding the urge for minimalism since the 70's, but this urge underlies modernism at its core. A musical score minimally defines musical performance. Mel Wup is a visual score for a painting, a painting the viewer creates as art for themselves. The grid is the staff, the color placement is the time signature, the color is a particular tone. but the hand is the voice.
